Re-stringing a racket

Other peoples experiences
"About 4 weeks ago a string went on the old, dependable Squarespot 80 and as the strings had been in for many years I thought it time to go for a complete re-string instead of a single replacement.
My local sports shop is GT Sports just outside Thornbury (towards the Ford dealership). It's a small but traditional sports shop, so more practical than fashionable. They had three types of string on offer: basic nylon and two other "special" types of which I can't remember the names - I think they were reinforced though.
I just went for the basic nylon string and it took about 4 days for it to be done (seems they give the racquets to a chap who travels to/from Chepstow). I then played and although it seemed good after about 3 weeks a string went..
I took it back and chatted about going for the "special" string. The chap behind the counter wondered if the break had been caused by a broken grommet, then he phoned the string chap to ask about the difference between the two types of string - apparently not that much, so I went for the cheaper version and the string chap would check/replace the grommets as appropriate. Because the first re-string hadn't lasted that long I only paid the difference, hence overall re-string was £12, and it seems to be a higher tension.
Control, feel and power are all good for my purposes. The cheaper string (£7.50) didn't seem worth it in retrospect."
